#41 Bring the kids (young and old!) to play in Cadillac Commons
A collaboration between the City and community has transformed a nondescript parking lot and park district into a year-round destination evoking all the historical charm and sophistication that makes Cadillac unique. The lakeside block serves as a vibrant hub connecting downtown businesses and Lake Cadillac with seasonal events and attractive amenities.
The Common Loon is a rare bird in Michigan, but your best chances of seeing and hearing this unique bird and its call is up on the Keweenaw near Copper Harbor. Take a boat ride on Lake Superior or walk the shoreline to look for the lovely loons.
Get ready for a one-of-a-kind experience at one of Grand Haven’s food staples. Pronto Pups is simple: they serve fantastic hot dogs on a stick to visitors young and old at their vintage stand, running since 1947.
You don’t have to go to a National Park to enjoy nature’s beauty. There are over 100 State Parks all over the state filled with beautiful trails, playgrounds, lakes, beaches, and activities. Search for the nearest State Park near you — it might surprise you how close it is!
Superman Ice Cream is almost an exclusively Michigan flavor and for kids (and some fun-loving adults!) all over the state, it’s the taste of summer. Find a local shop that serves this unique flavor and dig into the red, yellow and blue ice cream.
Relive memories of a late summer night or make some new ones by visiting a local drive-in movie theater. Throw a blanket and some popcorn in the car and catch one of this summer’s blockbusters at a drive-in near you.
#4 Stay cool and have fun at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo

The Kalamazoo Air Zoo is a stowed away gem that you have to get to on a hot day this summer. A museum of aerospace and science, the Air Zoo shares the history of invention, innovation, war and exploration through over 100 rare aircraft, spacecraft and exhibits, and is great for families and adults alike.
#2 Stroll the Sunday Fulton Street Art Market in Grand Rapids
Location: 1145 Fulton St E, Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Started in the summer of 2005, Fulton Street Artisans Market has become a wonderful venue for all kinds of art, from acrylic paintings to fiber arts to bath and body items, and everything in between, all crafted by local, Michigan artists — stop by the art market and the street market for a perfect Sunday destination!
#7 Visit the historic Whitefish Point Lighthouse and Shipwreck Museum
Region: Upper Peninsula
Location: 18335 N Whitefish Point Rd, Paradise, MI 49768
The wreck of the SS Edmund Fitzgerald during the night of November 10, 1975, just off Whitefish Point, is probably Lake Superior’s best known and most mysterious shipwreck. However, as a trip to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum at the Point reveals, it is one of over 240 wrecks between 1816 and 1975 at Whitefish Point alone, and of tens of thousands throughout the Great Lakes. One storm, in November 1913, claimed over 20 ships in just four days. The museum is a great place to learn about the historic of Michigan’s lakes and shipwrecks, and the lighthouse overlooks an amazing vantage point across Lake Superior.
